Class Registration

Registration Information

Daily Schedule
Note: ALL TIMES ARE CENTRAL TIME  (CHICAGO TIME). Unless otherwise noted in the individual course descriptions, classes will begin at 8:30 AM and end between 4:00 and 5:30 PM each day. On Saturday April 19, an opening ceremony will be presented in the auditorium of the Chesterton High School. Class will begin immediately after the close of the program. Lunch on all days will be from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM unless otherwise noted in the classroom. Lunch is the responsibility of the individual. It is important that you arrive early to locate your assigned classroom and not miss any instruction.  Some class times may be adjusted after the first day to meet time constraints. All times listed will be local time. Chesterton High School is a NO TOBACCO facility.

Opening Ceremony
There will be an opening ceremony prior to classes at 8:00 AM on Saturday, April 19 at the Chesterton High School Auditorium. No food or drink allowed in the auditorium.

Registration
Registration for all classes will be processed using the registration form. Since class sizes are limited, classes will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Early registration is strongly urged, the earlier the better. We urge you to register by April 1, 2008.  At that time a general review will be conducted, for class attendance and class cuts will commence, if required. Your pre-registration helps to confirm the running of a class. The Duneland School of Emergency Response Committee reserves the right to cancel any class for lack of pre-registration. THERE WILL BE NO REGISTRATIONS ACCEPTED FOR STATE CERTIFIED TESTING PROGRAMS AFTER March 19, 2008. STUDENTS MUST HAVE A PHOTO ID WITH THEM TO ENTER THE WRITTEN TESTING AREA.

Fees
Fees for classes are listed individually. Payment for fees or a letter of authorization from the local funding authority must accompany enrollment. We continue to offer the best training value possible. Some courses have higher fees than others. This is typically the case with hands-on courses where there is an additional cost for Safety Officer(s). Extrication course fees include the cost of vehicles used for practical evolutions. Occasionally the higher fee is used to defray the costs of an unusually large amount of handout material or copies of special printed materials for a specific course.

Refunds
A service fee of $10.00 will be charged on all refunds allowed prior to April 1, 2008. The registrant is responsible for contacting us for cancellations and refund requests. ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS AFTER April 1, 2008. PARTICIPANTS WHO DO NOT COME TO CLASS ARE STILL ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE REGISTRATION FEES CHARGED.

Meals & lodging
Refreshments may be purchased during the School in the High School lobby. Many restaurants and motels are located near the School locations. Meals and lodging are the responsibility of the individual.

Vendor Showcase
There will be an open house and vendor display with refreshments and door prizes from 3:30 to 6:00 PM on Saturday, April 19 at the Chesterton High School Field House both inside and outside displays. Come support the vendors that support our school.

Certificates
Upon verification of attendance, certificates will be distributed at the end of class. Please make sure that your name  is printed clearly on the Registration Form as you wish it to appear on the certificate. Note: Certificates are for attendance only. The "Duneland School of Emergency Response, Inc." cannot verify successful completion of requirements for state testing. Only the "Indiana Board of Firefighting Personnel Standards and Education" or the "Indiana State EMS Commission" has that authority once you have met the requirements.

Parking & Transportation
Free parking is available for school participants at the Chesterton High School. Please report to the school for all classes unless otherwise noted in the course description or the confirmation you will received. Please check your confirmation for class location and correct spelling. Plan your own transportation for off-site classes and evolutions. They are noted in the class descriptions. It is the student's responsibility to report to the proper location on time for beginning of class instruction.

Schedule Changes
The school staff reserves the right to make schedule changes as necessary. Classes may be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment. In such cases, every effort will be made to notify participants of changes and to place them in other classes of their choice. As noted in the course descriptions, practical evolutions may be subject to site availability and current conditions. Every effort is made to provide quality instruction and facilities. Occasionally unforeseen circumstances force a contracted instructor to cancel. We reserve the right to change instructors as necessary if the situation warrants.
