IMPORTANT NOTICE

PLEASE READ!!


It is mandatory that all personnel participating in firefighting classes wear FULL PROTECTIVE CLOTHING that meets current minimum IOSHA standards. Based on instructor's preferences, this may also be required for other live-action training as in such procedures as ventilation and extrication. 

Credit for practical portions of the class will not be awarded until the student has secured the necessary equipment as requested in the class brief.

*Protective Clothing
Full Protective Clothing is required for classes where noted in class description and is to be provided by the student. Full Protective Clothing consists of: helmet, eye protection, boots, coat, bunker pants, gloves, ANSI Z-87 safety glasses, and protective hood. All protective clothing shall meet NFPA and IOSHA standards. SCBA is required where noted, and is to be provided by the student. IOSHA Respiratory Standards are in effect. Mustaches must be above the lip and not impeding the mask or cup in any way. 

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL PARTICIPANTS

ny individual attending a class including the instructor must sign a waiver prior to the beginning of that class. A copy of the waiver follows:

The undersigned hereby certifies that he/she has completed the 24 hour mandatory training course required by I.C. 1971.36-8-105-1 et. seq. or in the alternative, that he/she was elected or appointed to membership in a Fire Company prior to January 1, 1988. For and in consideration of the training and educational opportunities offered to me, I hereby release and indemnify the Duneland School of Emergency Response, Inc., its officers, agents, servants, and employees, including instructors, from all liability from the undersigned, my personal representatives, heirs, assigns, and next of kin for all loss or damage and any claim or demands on account of injury to myself resulting in death or injury to myself whether caused by the negligence of the releases or otherwise while the undersigned is in, about or around the training facility.

In addition, all participants are advised of the following policy statements:

Any person enrolled in a course which includes field exercises, live drills, or "hands-on" training who, in the opinion of the instructor, is not physically or mentally capable of performing the exercise, or who performs the exercise in a reckless or unsafe manner, will not be allowed to participate further and will not be given credit for drill time.
